Özdere:
Idyllic town with 6000 to 12,000 inhabitants approximately 45 km. from Izmir, Turkey 3^rd largest city with good international flights and 35 km. from Kusadasi, a city visited by many tourists every summer and also by many large cruise vessels.

Özdere has extremely friendly locals and you will not be affected in the streets or beach by aggressive sellers. You will be met with a smile by the local population and feel that they appreciate that you come to visit their city.

In the Özdere area, there are many opportunities to go on good excursions from Özdere. By far the most exciting places to visit in Turkey are also within a reasonable distance, as Western Turkey both today, but also historically, has been and still is the rich part of Turkey. With the wealth came impressive buildings surrounded by impressive nature.

Sights and excursions from Özdere or the area around Kusadasi/ Izmir:

Özdere and surroundings are in the middle of a variation of attractions. Going there often requires a car - or it requires taking the time to get acquainted with the cheap public transportation available.

The area is one of the most fertile in Turkey, with all types of citrus fruits for sale. E.g. oranges cost around 1 Euro per Kilo, depending on the season – and freshly squeezed orange juice is a cheap delicacy.

You can sail, dive and enjoy other kinds of watersports, and if Turkey does not provide enough entertainment, you can take a boat to the nearby Greek island of Samos.

Take a walk on the main road in Özdere and you will get an idea of all the tour options, which are in the area.

Aqua land and Aqua Park is on the way up to Kusadasi a few km. north of the city. It is said to be great and to be one of  Europe's largest water park.

Ephesus:
A detour of a few kilometers on the road into Kusadasi. Take a stroll through the impressive ruins of a bygone and great time. The Virgin Mary house is also be located in the area.

A suggestion for a day with children:
Ephesus and water land:
Rent a car and start out from Özdere around 08:00 in the morning. Then you will reach Ephesus before the big crowds of tourists arrive. You then head for the lower entrance. Here you can go with wagon to the main entrance of 30YTL. The alternative is to be driven in a car, which usually commits you to either visit a carpet shop, a goldsmith or a leather factory. There is no one forcing you to do a purchase, but it is tempting and they are good sellers!

From the main entrance of Ephesus, you can walk down to the car in 1 to 1½ hour. If you are a family, we can then recommend a trip to Aqua land, which is one of Europe's largest water parks. That would complete a nice daytrip with something to see for both adults and children.

Boat trip:
Several organizers, for example NedCar, arranges a full day boat trip for app. 10 Euro per person - half price for children under 6 years of age. The trip lasts around 8 hours from 09.00 hrs until 17.00 hrs. You will be picked up and dropped off at the house.

The price for the boat trip includes meals (i.e., dinner with drinks) – other things can be purchased. During the trip the boat will visit several places where you can swim and dive. The highlight of the trip is a visit by some hot springs where you can swim. The trip is – according to the statements of several guests "worth all the money."

Kusadasi:
It is recommended that you take one of the white public buses from the main street (Dolbus). They run regularly, but there is no timetable. They will bring you to the central part of Kusadasi which is only 300 meters to the trading area. When you want to go home, just go to the same place again. One need only note that there are no items which are cheaper than in Özdere - however, the selection is slightly better. The traders are very insistent, almost uncomfortable.
