Kaymakli Underground City
Kaymaklı city dates back to the Hittite and Phrygian period and is the widest and second largest underground city in Cappadocia. Originally carved during the 7th and 8th, over eight levels, with four currently open to visitors. It is a wonderful stop for any on a Cappadocia tour. Previously used by Christians to protect themselves from invaders coming to Central Anatolia and later by local farmers to store crops and animals. Today, the city is still used by locals to store wine and food.
Cavusin Village
Çavuşin is an old Greek village, included in Cappadocia Turkey Tours. The village, which was active until 1924, housed many Christian Orthodox families. In 1924 an obligatory population exchange between both countries led to ethnic Turks and Greeks returning to their ethnic homelands. Çavuşin has two churches, the upper church; the great basilica dedicated to St. John the Baptist (located on the cliff above the village) and the lower church, Çavuşin Church (Nicephorus Phocas), commemorating a visit from the famous Cappadocian emperor Nicephorus Phocas.
